A high end foundation question!! Mac, Lancome, etc.?

I feel like the BIGGEST hypocrite in the world! My friends makeup lady at lancome was telling us why we shouldn't buy MAC cause it was made from the theater, so it wasn't meant to be worn daily, it breaks you out, and its unhealthy for you skin, and i told my other friends what she said but i want to try it LOL ! I gave drugstore foundations a chance for over 2 years maybe less, but the colors are either too light or too dark and if i do find a color, it makes me look...ashy.(loreal true match doesn't have a shade for everyone) And i tried going to ulta to see if they could help me but the sales lady was no help AT ALL and i was wondering.. how good is studio fix fluid? And how good is MACS color selection? I was surprised when i realized it was only $26 cause most lancome products are like $40-$50. Which has nothing to do with any thing but i just saying. And is there a department store foundation that's better? Like smash box or clinche? THANKS GUYS

I have a bright carmel skin tone and your right, L'oreal true match doesn't match with all shades, esp. mine. Also, I sadly know about the "Ashy" look when your makeup doesn't match your skin tone.

I use Mac Studio Fix Spf 15 liquid foundation and powder concelear. Matches EXACTLY to my skin color and last all day long for me (that Lancome lady must have not tried Mac products before she said her company's forced statement about Mac).

Drug store band products I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. The best drug store foundation I have ever brought. My only problem with it is this: They only make a few colors and of course they don't have my color thus I blend two colors - (for me it is Honey Beige- Medium & Toffee-Dark) to get my skin tone.
