Different hunter/jumper saddle pads?
What are the differences between english saddle pads? My 4 year old Appendix QH is schooling 2'3" excellently, and has no back problems: my saddle fits him perfectly. However, I want to make close contact as comfortable for him as possible, and prevent any problems. He has normal withers and a fairly narrow back for a QH. Should I switch to a half-pad and baby pad combo from the regular fleecy contour pads I've been using? Or invest in a gel pad, etc?
I have both a a fleeceworks half pad and a Supercore honey comb pad and I ride all my horses and ponies in them, wether the saddle fits or not. These pads absorb shock that the rider may add by posting, get left behind at a jump, etc. I think everyone should invest in a back pad of somesort, it just helps your horse out!
