Firming Body Wash - 3 Popular Product Brands Reviewed
A firming body wash and a natural body firming cream that work took some searching.
I found three popular brands that you need to know about BEFORE you buy.
Dove Firming Body Wash
This product contains petrolatum, a byproduct of the gasoline industry. Dermatologists recommend avoiding the use of products that contain it, because it interferes with the body’s cell renewal process. That process normally slows down with age. We don’t want to make it any slower.
It also contains collagen, which is ineffective. Collagen injections work by “plumping up” the deepest of the skin’s layers. We cannot replace lost collagen by rubbing on some animal collagen. We have to support the body’s ability to produce new collagen with nutrients, which you’ll find in the best natural body firming cream.
I would recommend that you avoid the Dove product. It contains other ingredients that may be unsafe. For some reason, they include titanium dioxide, which has recently been listed as a possible carcinogen. Artificial fragrances and colors complete the reasons “not” to buy this product.
Borba Firming Body Wash
I was at first impressed with this product, because it contains colloidal oatmeal. But as a read down the list of ingredients, I found numerous ones that we should avoid, for safety’s sake.
Diamond powder is one. There are 454 separate studies concerning the toxicity of this ingredient and it has never been assessed for safety. I have also seen the ingredient in natural body firming cream, but it’s not the best choice.
Other health hazards in the cleanser include parabens, dyes and benzophenone (a carcinogen). But, the big no-no is triethanolamine, which is known to be toxic to the immune system, the respiratory system and the skin.
So, far, I’d have to recommend that you stick with natural body firming cream and the orange oil cleanser that I use. But, let’s look at one more.
Distinction Firming Body Wash
My only problem with this product is the added fragrance, but some people are not bothered by fragrances. Still tho, fragrances can have harmful hidden toxins. Since, it will be rinsed off; it shouldn’t cause any lasting effects. But, you probably wanted lasting effects. I can’t see how any of them would be very effective, if at all.
Natural body firming cream, on the other hand, can have lasting effectiveness, as long as it contains the right ingredients. For example, jojoba oil fades stretch marks, scars and wrinkles. Active protein peptides increase elasticity and firmness.
Certain kinds of kelp increase the level of protein in the skin. But, one of the primary reasons that a natural body firming cream is more effective than a firming body wash has to do with moisture. Moister skin is firmer. Soaps are generally not moisturizing. You might, however, try plain olive oil, as long as you don’t have excessive oiliness. I found one product at www.ahealthyradiantskin.com that was safe and also an effective natural body firming cream.
